Welcome to the homepage of our Association!

Ádám RuszinkóOne of Hungary?s great treasures is the extraordinary richness of its thermal water supply. Our thermal water is primarily used for physiotherapeutic, rheumatic, and orthopedic purposes, but they are often sought for healing of various gynecological disorders, urologic and dermatological diseases, nevertheless, in the form of water drinking therapy, they are suitable for curing digestive system diseases as well. Hungary also offers an ample supply of medicinal mud, as well as dry carbon-dioxide (mofetta) treatments that are available in thermal water caves. Our country?s lakes, wells, rivers, together with our mountains create a particularly pleasant and therapeutic environment.

Hungary has roughly 1300 wells where the water temperature below the surface exceeds 30 degrees Celsius (or 86 degrees Fahrenheit). 147 officially and medically registered thermal water wells and 100 mineral water springs supply the water requirements of 360 spas, or a total of 1200 pools, of which 600 are thermal water pools. As for the number of facilities, Hungary counts 55 spa hotels, 38 thermal water spas, 92 wellness hotels, 5 cave baths and one mofetta facility.

The use of these natural resources is an important part of the national health care system, and serves as a flagship of the touristic services in Hungary. In recent years, Health Tourism showed an impressive increase, which is primarily due to the investments/developments generated by both the Széchenyi-Plan, and various development programs funded by the European Union, as well as the dedicated, high-quality work of the country?s professionals. Our services and professionals attract more and more interest from international professionals as well, which is now so significant, that it created Medical Tourism, a new sector within Health Tourism.

The objective of the Hungarian Health-Tourism Marketing Association is to effectively market the country?s medical, therapeutic, wellness and touristic services both locally and internationally, and professionally manage the necessary human resources.

For this reason, we intend to help the attractive presentation of therapeutic and wellness spas, spa hotels and resorts, their medical services, the analysis of their natural therapeutic effects, the promotion of their uniqueness, the education and training of professionals based on the continuously improving market requirements in order to further support their successful and fruitful participation on local and international markets.

Our members are successful entrepreneurs, service providers and professionals, who play an important role in the national Health Tourism: they are operators of wellness spas, spa hotels and resorts, work in the field of education and training, work as medical doctors or counselors, and even municipalities operating various touristic facilities.

We would like to assist our country that?s rich in natural resources and therapies to become the home of a successful and healthy nation.

Dr. Ádám Ruszinkó
President
